Sydney eScholarship

Sydney eScholarship is an initiative of the University of Sydney Library. Sydney eScholarship is a set of innovative services for the University of Sydney that integrates the management of digital content with new forms of access and scholarly publication.

Sydney eScholarship:

  • supports and facilitates eResearch and eLearning across the University of Sydney
  • secures and archives digital content
  • provides managed web-based access to content
  • adds value and impact through new and cost-effective processes of scholarly publication
  • provides recognised publication for DEST research funding purposes
  • promotes innovation and experimentation
  • implements digital sustainability principles and standards
  • provides advisory and project analyst services
  • enables managed use, re-use and re-packaging of digital content
  • engages in collaboration with faculty and University services
  • provides e-commerce, eStore and business support services

Sydney eScholarship is built upon the Library's recognised expertise in creating, archiving, managing, publishing and providing access to digital content, working in partnership with other University services.

Sydney Digital Library

 

Sydney eScholarship provides facilities, storage, access and expertise to support University research, teaching and learning.

Sydney eScholarship Repository

An Open Standards (DSpace) object repository service providing secure and citable archival storage and managed access to research associated with the University of Sydney.

SETIS digital collections

Sydney Electronic Text and Image Service, Australia's leading e-text service providing expertise and a range of digital collections, including major collections in Australian studies.

Sydney Digital Theses

Providing digital archiving and access to Sydney University research theses. Over 300 theses are already in the collection and publicly available for reference.

Research and teaching support

Facilities and expertise to support research and teaching proposals and projects involving digital content. eScholarship staff are currently leading 3 ARC projects and providing technical support to several other ARIIC projects.

Hosting services

Hosting and mirroring platforms that support priority programs.

Consultation and advisory services

Digital repository analyst and project management services for research and teaching, drawing upon the Australian Partnership for Sustainable Repositories (APSR).

Sydney University Publishing

 

Publishing, business and e-commerce services to add value to digital collections and scholarly works, and a services gateway to other University publishing.

Sydney University Press (SUP)

Operating as both electronic and print publisher, the imprint is recognised as a scholarly publisher for DEST research purposes.

Other imprints

Services to other publishers (eg Monash ePress), and imprints as appropriate to scholarly and market demands.

Digital / print services

Conversion services for electronic and / or print-on-demand publication, including internal University services (eg University Handbooks).

eStore and eCommerce

Secure e-commerce transaction and disbursement services and an eStore for web-based sales of University publications.

Experimental publication

An innovative platform to investigate and develop new forms of integrated multi-media and text publication.

Business services

Range of associated business services, including contracts and rights advice, pricing, royalty, and marketing advice.

Collaboration/partnerships

Facilitates the development of external and internal collaborations to improve and further scholarly publication.
